The BAeA operates a mandatory Pilot Proficiency Scheme for competition
pilots. Pilots must qualify to compete at Standard and higher levels by demonstrating
their ability to fly the Known sequence for that level. This demonstration sequence must
be performed safely and to the satisfaction of a BAeA approved Check Pilot, who will observe
(or may accompany in 2-seat aircraft) the qualifying pilot. If the demonstration is
accepted as meeting the required standards of safety, situational awareness and
piloting skills,
the Check Pilot will make the appropriate entry and signature on the qualifying
pilots Proficiency Card.
Note also .... that if a pilot does not compete for a period
of at least two years then his endorsement is considered to have lapsed, and
before he can compete again in a previously endorsed class he must obtain a new
endorsement from a check-pilot.
