Ben Ellis
Ben
Ellis is 57 years old, married with 3 children and lives in Thames Ditton,
Surrey. He has held a PPL for nearly 25years, and shares a light aircraft with a
group based at Denham. Despite several attempts at performing aerobatic
manoeuvres, he finds it best to remain strictly in the utility category. Ben
is a duty operations (airside) manager at London Gatwick airport, and having
been the Judging Co-ordinator for the BAeA for some 6 years he was voted in as
the BAeA Chairman in May 1999 to follow in the Nick Buckenham's steps when he
decided to stand down from the post. Ben relinquished the post in January 2006
but continues to be actively involved in helping to run BAeA competitions,
including judging. He also represents the BAeA on the council of the Royal Aero
Club (RAeC) and the General Aviation Safety Council (GASCo) Since 1997 Ben has
been accredited as an FAI International Aerobatic judge, and acted as Chief
Judge at the
European Advanced Aerobatics Championships in Slovenia 1998
