Louisa Knapp
Louisa is 28 years old, and
based in the United States, where she was one of the youngest people to gain a full
commercial licence. Having obtained a British commercial licence in 1990, she now has some
2,000 flying hours experience.
Although she learnt her
Aerobatics in the UK, having been brought up in Norfolk and attending Gordonstoun School,
the main body of her aerobatic experience was gained at the Pompano Air Centre in Florida.
In July 1990 she joined Richard Goode's Proteus Aerobatic team as Britain's only female
display pilot, where she flew an EXTRA 300.
Louisa first gained a place
on the British team when she competed at the 1992 World Aerobatic Championships at Le
Havre, in France. She was placed 13th overall before weather put paid to the contest. In
1994 she was place a very impressive 8th female pilot and 23rd overall, from a field of 83
pilots when the World Championships was held in Debrecen, Hungary in 1994.
