British Aerobatic Champion 1996
Steve is 36 years old,
married and lives in Gloucestershire with his wife Judith. Both of them fly Boeing 747's
for British Airways. Steve has some 9000 hrs total flying experience.
His first Aerobatics was
flown in 1978 on an ageing Cessna Aerobat, on which he would later teach aerobatics,
before moving on to Stampe biplanes at the Tiger Club in Headcorn where more advanced
maneouvres were learnt. Advanced and unlimited Aerobatics was made possible with the
purchase, in 1992, of a share in an Akro/Laser 235. This machine gave him his first place

acquired from Russia.
Steve has been involved in
Aviation for some time, including 5 years as an aircraft engineer, moving into Ab-inito
Instructing, Glider Towing, piloting Air-Taxi's and executive jets. In 1991 Steve won the
King's Cup for Air Racing, considered to be the pinnacle of achievement in British Air
Racing and in 1996 he won the Daily Telegraph / Neil Williams Trophy becoming the British
Aerobatic Champion. When not flying or practising Steve's interests include skiing,
vintage cars and cycling.
