The Golding Barrett, Don Henry &
Tiger
Trophies - 1998
Once again pain and joy - and as usual the former first. Friday's low-low
cloud-base eventually became half reasonable at about 4pm on Saturday, and
the Advanced pilots blew the remainder of the scud away with the four minute
freestyle Air Squadron Trophy - left over from Swansea's abortive weekend two
weeks before. The Intermediate Apprentices quickly followed, and finally another
healthy team of Beginners before the barbecue prevailed. On Sunday 7th those
who remained competed for the Tiger Trophy, and both the Golding Barrett and
Don Henry sequences were completed. Lots of brownie points for those who hung
in there, condolences and shorter weekends for the rest who had to depart for
other reasons - they being the "no-scores" in the listings below.
Again a
fantastic entry, but some despair that Compton will ever be a CAVOK affair!
Biggin Hill certainly wasn't any better on Sunday - our slot was drowned out.
