An amazing field of beginners on the Friday at this 'new format' Welshpool contest was
reduced (!) to thirteen by bad weather in various parts of the UK. The clear winner in
a very pretty Pitts S-1S in what had become beautiful weather was Gerald Cooper. On Saturday
calls came from pilots creeping ever-nearer up the country, flying eventually starting at
1400 local in the most glorious afternoon we could have wished for. Two rounds were flown,
Tony Maxwell in the 'other' Eagle narrowly beating Gerald Cooper and Alex Smee on aggregate
for the McLean Trophy.
Alan Cassidy ran the judging bench whilst Angela provided the scores. See you next at Pembrey,
NOT at Swansea! - all the details are in the usual pages here.
Ben Ellis, Contest Director.
