Report
Hmmmm
.... not such a great weekend. About half of the expected field of 20 pilots
actually made the trip to Wickenby into a magic sunset but in the face of
the dreadful weather forecast for the next few days, in order to be
there for the Friday morning briefing. Indeed we sat and looked at the result all the way from Friday
morning to Sunday mid-day - a period of tedium relieved only by the process
of making a 'proper' CIVA unknown .... that we eventually didn't have the
opportunity to fly. By day-three the dire reports of transit weather all
around the country were taking precedence for most pilots over any prospect of flying the
two unknown sequences we had decided would drive the event, so
even as a moderate clearance was blossoming out of the clag we called it a day. I do hope
that all of you made it home without any insurmountable problems.
A plan has now been hatched to add an
Advanced Free sequence to the Friday afternoon Beginners class at
the
Tiger Trophy on September 26th, and if the Sherburn management (and the
weather!!) will let us do this then the Saturday unknown advanced sequence
of the Tiger Trophy can be used to form the 'other' half of the necessary
Advanced Nationals flying, and maybe a Champ can be declared. Watch this
space .....
Thanks to all the Wickenby staff for
putting up with our moans and groans for three whole days. It's a lovely
place, and I hope we will be back under more appropriate Wx circumstances at
some time in the future.
