Contest Director's Report

I don't do statistics since I am more of a words sort of guy. However on this occasion I will chance my arm and give you a couple of numbers to peruse, so here they are: 31, 34, 6 ,and 124. There were 31 competitors, 34 contest flights on Friday and 6 programmes completed each one, a record for the glider nationals except the last which is the number of times I have had to use the backspace key whilst typing this .... however, I digress.

Exceptional weather over the entire period plus a band of very enthusiastic competitors and helpers ensured a very smooth operation, also enhanced by excellent communication between the the judging line and launch point with 2 way radios of a type and spec I wish I had discovered some years ago.

The standard of flying was very high, with some of the results separated by a very small amount (see below). Special mention to the Bats (Bicester aerobatic team) of whom we will hope to see more in the future. I fear that old age and treachery can no longer triumph over youth and skill...
