What is it with Saltby, rain, wind, clouds can't fly again. Bah! Everybody rocked up on Friday to a beautiful aerobatic day, no wind, sunshine, scattered Cu above 5,000'. Let's get some practice in said everybody. No, sorry, tug's broke. Can't fly again. Doh! Some frantic phoning secured Guy Westgate's Pawnee and a driver from Halton.

Early briefing on Saturday, some severe cat herding and the first launch was before 10am. The known was successfully completed before lunch but a couple of pilots were unsettled by the complete lack of horizon (and probably the early start). Another sunny day and cumulus caused a slight delay until we again had enough height. Unknown 1 produced some stunning flying with good scores from all but one.... shame really as he had lost direction from cross box but flew good figures. And so to bed (after beer for the Director)

Sunday saw high winds and much coldness but another early start. The Free Programme ensured that all pilots dragged themselves up above the 60% mark overall, including those flying the default. Alas that was the end, low cloud and the need to return the tug caused the Free Unknown to be abandoned.

All in all some good flying with everybody starting to work as a Team. Congratulations to Maz Makari and Graham Saw for silver and bronze, but after, I believe, 14 flights on type, the overall winner, new boy Alex Haddad. Last but not least also to Mike Newman, overall winner (and sole participant) at Unlimited, with a creditable 70.87% overall.
