Alan started flying gliders in 1983, but got bored standing around on cold airfields waiting to fly, so in 1998 he got his PPL. At a late stage he had a trip with Cas Smith in his Pitts S2B, and all went down hill (and vertically up, and 45 degrees in both directions) from there. Since then Alan has regularly competed at Standard & Intermediate in BAeA competitions in a Robin 2160, Cap 10, and now a Pitts S-1S (G-BOXH) ... still standing around on cold airfields waiting his turn to fly, though!
