Hello again,
At
last the activity has started to get a bit more frenetic.
The key for the Extra 300 finally arrived at about 8.30
this evening, just at the same time that some light rain looked to have
put an end to the day's flying. However, the rain stopped just as the
tower closed at 9.30, so I was able to make my first training flight in
the rental with the airfield completely to myself. At least it is a
start.
Jules and Stephen both had two 15-minute flights in
the box today and got through the Q and their Free, plus a few odd
flicks that might appear in the unknowns. Pictures of the marked box are
now available on the website for anoraks to peruse...

The
only pilots who flew today were Hungarian, British and French. The
latter have 5 pilots sharing two CAP231s.
The markings of the back of the box in the trees are
actually more visible than these pictures imply. We will not be having
any corner judges here, so we can all rival the Spanish for OUTs.
To keep JP happy, here is a picture of an aeroplane
(top). The edge is flown by one Hungarian, the red tail is my loaner.
And here's one for the ladies (left). Hopefully we will be able to keep
flying over the next few days, although we are expecting a moderate
amount of rain tomorrow. See
http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?world=4444. The sunrise and
sunset times are worth a note, even if the forecast is, well, just a
forecast.
Tomorrow we expect to see Finns, Lithuanians and
perhaps an Irishman in the box, and the Germans may arrive. Have heard
nothing of the Russians yet, but they don't have a long way to travel to
get here - the border is only about 50km to the East. Czechs and Poles
also still to make a showing. According to CD, if all turn up there will
still be just 37 competitors.
Its now 1140 and breakfast is at 0815 so its time to
sign off.
More anon
