Sleap 2019 CD Report

The Chief Judge enjoys his chess, so much so that he spent a large part of his downtime at Sywell pitting his wits against our South African guest judge, Laszlo Liskay. This weekend we played chess with the weather, from start to finish. Unfortunately, a crafty late checkmate eventually meant that we had to concede without flying or medals, but still with our integrity intact. Many thanks to our judging and scoring volunteers led by CJ, Rod Hervé, who all demonstrated exemplary patience and variously had fun days out on Saturday at RAF Cosford, river cruising and shopping in ‘Shrowsbury’ (sic) and various other non-flying activities, while the wind blew its worst.

Many thanks to SAC and the members for their generous support, sympathy and invitation to return if we can rearrange. Thanks to the pilots for their timely updates from around the country and intelligent decision-making. There was a good chance of completing the contest on Sunday, but very little chance of safe transits. No Avgas was wasted.

Finally, instead of the main briefing we had a great discussion on Saturday about the future of our sport, what we need to do to attract a wider membership and especially about aerobatic training and coaching. Let’s have your views and let’s see if we can make the rest of the season and 2020 a real success for British Aerobatics.
