Notes

Get into Aeros is an initiative aiming to get more people involved in competition aerobatics. We hope that some of you may one day join our national teams and we could even find a future champion or two, not to mention long term members of our association. The event gives PPL holders under the age of 30 an insight into the sport and the chance to try if for themselves in a two-day event that will be held at Sleap Airfield on 1st - 2nd of June 2019, for an all-inclusive price of £199. No previous aerobatic experience is required.

If you're keen to have a go but aren't under 30, then why not try our Club Event at Little Gransden on 11th of May?

The Flying

Inarguably the most exciting part of the event : participants will undertake two flights with an instructor, one training flight away from the airfield, where you will learn the Club sequence before returning to the competition 'box' to fly it, and a second flight that will take you straight into the box to fly the sequence for a second time. Our judges will provide critique for both flights.

Briefings and presentations

First of all, a detailed briefing will be given on the structure of the event, how competitions work, and the sequence you will be flying. Throughout the event, additional presentations will be given by British Aerobatics members on how to get involved in the sport, and some of the opportunities available to you. It is also a great opportunity to chat to them and find out more about aerobatics in general.

Demonstrations

You will have a chance to watch pilots at all levels, form Club to Unlimited, demonstrate a competition sequence in the box, along with commentary explaining what the judges are looking for in their flying. This will give you an idea of the increasing complexity of the different levels, but also to show that it's not all the very complicated stuff you may have seen by our top pilots.

Nigel Lamb

The multiple National Aerobatic Champion and Red Bull Air Race World Champion will be in attendance at the event, and will chat to you all to share his considerable experience in the sport and answer any questions you might have.

Camping and food

Free camping will be available on the airfield, should you wish to do so. The airfield cafe will be selling food throughout the event.

Good luck, and we hope to see you in June!
