Mel takes 5th place at the WAAC in Las Vegas!

Melanie Astles, flying for Team GBR at the World Advanced Aerobatics Championships in Las Vegas, did some brilliant flying in her borrowed 330SC and came 5th overall with a score of 76.529% across 4 programmes.  The French pilot Tommy Douillard won, with his teammate Vladimir Gras coming second.  Romanian Dan Stefanescu took 3rd place with a score of 76.984%, which shows you just how close Mel got to getting on the podium.  You can see the full and final scores here.

I am sure many of you will have seen the excellent daily videos that Mel posted on Facebook & Instagram, so you will be aware of the strong winds, lack of hangars and Top Gun references that characterized the experience!  Please join me in saying a big congratulations and thankyou to Mel.  We must also extend our thanks to Ted Szymczak, her team manager and videographer who filmed and edited all the social media content - chapeau!

Well done Mel!
