Got a PPL? Aged 30 or under? Try Aerobatics!

Get into Aeros is an initiative aiming to get more young pilots involved in competition aerobatics. We hope that some of you may one day join our national teams and we could even find a future champion or two, not to mention long term members of our association. The event gives PPL holders up to the age of 30 an insight into the sport and the chance to try if for themselves, in a two-day event that will be held at Sleap Airfield on 26th and 27th June 2021, for an all-inclusive price of £199. No previous aerobatic experience is required!

(If you're keen to have a go but aren't under 30, then why not try our Club Event at Little Gransden)

The Flying

Inarguably the most exciting part of the event : participants will undertake two flights with an instructor, one training flight away from the airfield, where you will learn the Club sequence before returning to the competition 'box' to fly it, and a second flight that will take you straight into the box to fly the sequence a second time. Our judges will provide critique for both flights.

Briefings and presentations

First of all, a detailed briefing will be given on the structure of the event, how competitions work, and the sequence you will be flying. Throughout the event, additional presentations will be given by British Aerobatics members - including previous Get Into Aeros participants - on how to get involved in the sport, and some of the opportunities available to you. It is also a great opportunity to chat to them and find out more about aerobatics in general.

You will have a chance to watch pilots - form Sports to Advanced level - demonstrate a competition sequence in the box, along with commentary explaining what the judges are looking for in their flying. This will give you an idea of the increasing complexity of the different levels, but also show that it's not all the very complicated stuff you may have seen by our top pilots.

Nigel Lamb

The multiple National Aerobatic Champion and Red Bull Air Race World Champion will be in attendance at the event, and he will chat to you all to share his considerable experience in the sport and answer any questions you might have.

Camping and food

Free camping will be available on the airfield, should you wish to do so. The airfield cafe will be serving food throughout the event, although this is not included in the price.

Entry applications will open towards the end of April. To apply to enter this event, please visit

Good luck, and we hope to see you in June!
