Training session #1
"Zee left foot more pleeze, and I must
see 'ow you are sitting in zee aircraft!". This, and much more in Eric Vazeille's charming accent.
Wickenby
was alive to aeros once more as the British team went through their
paces under Eric's very critical eye. This was the first of six, three/
four day training camps during which the British team of Tom Cassells,
Mark Jefferies, Gerald Cooper and Kester Scrope have committed to
intensive training under Eric's tuition.
In support were Dave Cowden (Team delegate) Steve Green (Team Manager)
and myself who will attend one day at each camp to give the judges view
of progress. Steve, Dave and I were very impressed with the improvement
in each pilot even from one days coaching.
This team can become a very real
contender at the World Aerobatic Championships in Granada, Spain this
year. The level of Team spirit is great, and will be important for
mutual help at the championships.
The training camps have been made
possible through the prodigious work of Dave Cowden and the British
Aerobatics Foundation in funding Eric's valuable time. In the next
report I will go into a little more detail of how Eric goes about his
training sessions. His ability to translate to the pilot what inputs are
required to correct errors is most impressive.
