Hi all,
This is going to be a short email, because it's late here. But we
finished the Free Programme this morning (the results are on website via
the link above) and started the First Unknown today as well. We have
flown about 22 pilots including Kester and Richard. Kester was first of
the team to fly and put in a solid flight, although zero'ed a flick due
to under-rotation. Richard had a torrid time planning his flight because
he was first to fly after the "lunch" break (1430 until 1630). He was
scheduled to fly at 1630, but the start time was delayed by about 50
minutes because the warm-up pilot could not start his aeroplane and then
just before Richard was going to fly the official wind was changed from
northerly to southerly. After a rather direct discussion with the
organisers it was agreed that Richard would have 30 minutes to prepare
for his flight, and then he launched into the Unknown. Given the amount
of time he had waited and the disruption to his preparation, he flew
well. Richard has a natural rhythm to his flying and he is flicking the
aeroplane very well.Scores are now on the CIVA
web for both Richard and Kester. It is too early in the programme to say
how this places them - I will let you know more at the end of flying
tomorrow.
We have seen some good Unknown flights today - the US
team is put in a series of very good flights. Its a tough competition,
but our team are doing well at the moment. Still a chance of medals, so
it's all to play for.
More tomorrow.
Best wishes,
