Hi all,
I am sitting in the lobby of the hotel wondering just how to summarise today's events. Its been an emotional roller coaster and I have had rather too much beer, which means that I might lapse into passages of rather turgid catalogue of events. Sorry, but I enjoyed the beer!

We have finished all of the flights for WAC 2007. And we still have Wednesday morning to spare. So, its good to get the contest finished early, but a little frustrating for those who did not make the cut (the bottom 25% of pilots were excluded from flying the Second Unknown). Especially, those who have spent perhaps $35,000 shipping aircraft here. Anyway, WAC flights are finished. Results processing is not, so I am afraid that I cannot tell you who has won or give you results for the British team yet. I will try to update you in the morning.

Nick flew first this morning and put together a solid programme. No zeros that I could see, although the first and second figures had significant errors. His performance seemed to improve throughout the sequence, at least from our viewpoint, but it will be interesting to see what the judges made of his flight. It was all flown well above the base of the box - on a day when many people got low. The second Unknown proved to be a tricky sequence to position in the box.

Tom was disappointed with his flight. He zeroed the rolling circle and the last figure (did a one and a half negative snap instead of a single snap) and we think he may have been called low and been given some box outs. Tom is really flying well - his technical execution of figures is as good as any of those of his competitor pilots, but he needs luck and better positioning to come together in one sequence and then I am sure that he will win an individual medal at an international contest soon.

Mark put together a well positioned accurate flight and seems to have scored well with the judges. He has worked very, very hard in training for this competition and this seems to have paid off in this flight. His airshow experience enabled him to position the sequence well and Mark retained excellent rhythm throughout his performance. I am sure that Mark is going to get a good final ranking in the results table.

Gerald had a good flight as well. He is really putting in excellent sequences. I am not sure how the judges saw the flight, but we could not see many mistakes.

Anyway, I will let you know more in the morning.
Best wishes,
Steve
