June 1st to 4th -
Training Session #4 at Wickenby ... this saw us at the
Wickenby for the last of British Team training days. It was quite clear
that Eric’s patient and analytical guidance had paid dividends. Eric,
Steve
and I felt that the standard had notched up a gear, especially with the
way the team handled a tricky unknown. It was interesting to note that
there was very little talk about flick entries they were much crisper
and less evidence of “aileroning out”.Emphasis
switched to start positioning, spin entry techniques, radii in humpties
and erect and 45, and many apparently minor details that all help to get
that extra half mark over the competition. Training was interrupted for
a short while by a problem with the Extra that put it H/C on the Sunday
afternoon, but it will be fixed in plenty of time to continue training
for both Mark and Kester.

Briefing on a tricky unknown.
Nice hat Richard.
Pity about Gerry’s!
For
the unknown on Sunday Eric threw everything at the team ~ lay-down
eights, negative loops with 8 point rolls, square loops with opposite
rolls on top as well as diamond loops, and to add insult to
disorientation confusing cross box manoeuvres and depth charges with
negative spins followed by negative snaps and so on. Every one has made
major strides, and the trick will be to bring the team to a peak just
before the competition. It is amazing to think that we could actually
worry about them peaking too soon. That is up to Eric and Team Manager
Steve. Next time I see them it will be for real. (How about seeing you
on the Podium as well!)
